NEWBORN

NEWBORN

Lay your soft head down

Child

Listen to the wind blow

Beating gusts

Hands against our home

Let them pound, all day

Rap deep, into night

They’ll never reach inside

Never allow it

Lay your head down

Child

Close innocent eyes

Our windows are shut

Locked with the doors

From the harm outside

I’ll protect you

Always I’ll try

Sleep soundly and sweet

Child

One day you too

Will have to bravely feel

Those harsh winds that howl

Face the unknown outside

Until then

Lay back

Your little head

Hear those roars outside

things they’ve said

And listen

listen to the wind blow
