BELONG

BELONG

All he wanted in life was to belong

Determined to break free from

Perceptions blocking his sun

Each time he dared peek outside the hurt

They buried him back under his dirt

No room for his thoughts in the clique

False strength, a numbers pit

Pushing him further and further away

not fitting that mold of the day

Were they afraid the extra weight

Would capsize their precarious state

Or were they just paper plates

A weak foundation out the gates

Afraid to rock the boat

feeding on the remote

Hungry for others pain

Or afraid to face their own

intentions don’t’ matter

A familiar division is sewn

Another friend left alone

All of us laugh and stare

as long as we belong
