ELEPHANT

ELEPHANT

An elephant old and grey

Ears twice the size of his head

Told me once to remember

All that I experience and see

Said together that’s what ends up

Making all that you’ll call me

I laughed and told him I forget even

Names of family members I had

Some days I’m lucky to remember

Even to get out of bed

He just smiled and shook

His large hairy head

Said dear foolish boy

Though some days you may forget

All the paths that you took

To get you where you are

The memory is always there
